A Relaxing Day

Today was really nice. After 2 weeks of crazy, busy insanity, I got to rest and the only phone call we received was from Farmerboy! Very nice.
We have been covering Genesis on Wednesday nights at church. Last night, one of the elders taught on Genesis 2:1-17. This chapter is a recap of ch.1 and adds in some important details. One thing that he mentioned that I hadn't really thought about was that Adam and Eve could have chosen the Tree Of Life or the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. They could pursue life or knowledge. Knowledge is not wrong in and of itself, but knowledge that sets itself against God is sin. The Bible tell us that professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. A great many people are educated, but there education leaves no room for a supreme being other than themselves (idolatry). Also, did you consider that before they took of the tree of Knowledge, that they only new good? This is where sin came in, thinking they (we) knew better than God. That was satan's lie, "you shall become as God." See what God was trying to protect them (us) from with His few commands? Brokenness, pain, separation, every bad or evil thing you can think of. He loved them so much, and us too, and now we blame Him for the pain we created (why does God let bad things happen to "good" people,etc.).
